This can also be a map of the world as you might have never seen. Its a population map with India and China with its large population sizes. What does this mean for the “digital native” population in the world? We have a challenge now to prepare our students with the ability to collaborate and work across boundaries.

The Gloucestershire JET(Job Employment Training)
Project Aim:
to develop a strategic approach to international work placement to match other ‘employability’ initiatives and share with partners:
Business intelligence and contactsLanguage and cultural awareness trainingPublicity and promotion Evaluation and follow on work.

The Project

To involve thirty 2nd and 3rd year engineering, construction and business and publicadministration students from 3 Gloucestershire FE colleges in 3 week work placements with companies in Hannover in Germany and Vasteras in Swedenover a 2 year period. Using Preparatory Visits, contacts have already beenestablished with
- VW and the City Municipality in Hanover - ABB and an IT subsidiary in Vasteras - Gloucester Cathedral and the Stroud Canals Project.
